Here is the recipe!
Auntie Maida's Baked Beans
2 cans pork and beans
8 T. catsup
4 T. molasses
4 T. brown sugar
bacon pieces
4 T. bacon drippings
2/3 C. chopped onions
2/3 C. chopped celery
Fry up desired amount of bacon (several pieces)and save the drippings. (This gives the beans a really good flavor but is not absolutely necessary if you want to be more health-conscious.)Saute' onions and celery in bacon drippings. Mix with rest of ingredients in a baking dish. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes at 375 degrees or until hot and bubbly. So yummy! (This recipe has been doubled for a larger casserole but usually I use 4 cans pork and beans and increase amounts accordingly for large summer barbecues! Evan loves this "taste of summer" with potato salad.
thanks! they were yummy. i've been itching to eat some of these for a few weeks now. but the missionaries ATE THEM ALL so i will have to make them again. but at least the elders are full.
