last night as i was reading through the ensign, i spotted a book of mormon scripture mastery and it reminded me of something my seminary teacher did: any time you found a scripture mastery in a church magazine article or heard it in general conference, you could bring it in and you'd get some little prize or something. he just had a bag of goodies or something you chose from. but two people couldn't get a prize for the same article. just an idea!

Great idea, Sarah. Thanks! And it reminded me of another idea I have heard--to have kids as they are listening to conference mark down any scripture mastery scriptures they happen to hear and the speaker for possible make-up credit or rewards of some kind. I need to work out those details.
One teacher I know has had a "Fast from the World " week right before conference. She has kids commit to not watching any TV, movies, not playing computer games, not eating fast food, not even going out on dates to sacrifice and prepare to hear from the prophet. What do any of you think of that? Did your teacher(directed at Sarah since no one from Tyler ever did that)ever do anything similar? I tend to think this is too fanatical, but maybe a variation of some kind might help kids to prepare or even remind them how important it is to listen to our latter-day prophets. What do you all think?
